4. Verification of Identity
To comply with current legislation,
the Bank is required to follow detailed account opening procedures.
The prospective Account Holder will be required, prior to opening
an Account, to provide the Bank with certain information and/or
documentation as requested by the Bank, to verify the prospective
Account Holder's identity, address and nominated clearing bank
account details. To confirm the account Holder's identity and
address, the Bank may use the services of electronic data registers
including credit reference agencies. If as part of the Account
Holder's application to open an account with the Bank the Account
Holder provides the Bank with information about another person
or persons, the Account Holder is also confirming to the Bank
that the Account Holder has told them about your application,
and that we may also need to verify their identity and address.
In the event that these requirements are not satisfied and funds
have already been deposited with the Bank by the Account Holder,
the Bank may, at its discretion, suspend operations on the Account
until such time as identity has been satisfactorily established,
or repay the funds to the clearing bank account from which they
came and may also, at its discretion, close the Account.
The Bank accepts no liability
whatsoever for any financial penalty (whether criminal or civil)
for any damages, or for any costs or charges, incurred by the
Account Holder as a result of the falsification of, or inaccuracies
in, information provided by the Account Holder or the Account
Holder's agent to the Bank concerning the identity of the Account
Holder, or any resultant delay caused by such falsification or
inaccuracies, and any such sums shall be borne by the Account
Holder.
